Head Chef and owner Kanya Nicholas has brought Authentic Thai Food to the Poconos from all four of Thailand’s cultural regions. Kanya and her family are from the Northeast (Isaan) region of Thailand. In addition Kanya’s cooking style recreates her favorite Thai dishes (taught by her mother) providing the traditional selections on your menu and incorporates a sphere of items and flavors not usually found in restaurants outside of Thailand.

Thai Orchid’s continual growth and success has created an opportunity for Chef Kanya to add two family members that are Thai Cooks that with careers as Thai Chefs for many years in Thailand. Sophan’s background includes the prized head Chef position at the beautiful Jasmine Resort in Bangkok over several years and holds multiple cooking certificates and awards. Kaison was the head cook for many years at the Aroy Restaurant in the Issan Region of Thailand. With this experience along with his formal training he brings more depth to Thai Orchid’s menu. Kanya has been successful in keeping her methods and flavors consistent while being able to enhance the menu with the additional resources she now has access to, for the pleasure of Thai Orchid’s guests!

The Nicholas family welcomes their newest sensation “9th Street Asian Market” located at 110 N. 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA (only 200 feet from Thai Orchid!). Your new local Asian Market features delights from China, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and other Asian areas.
